Manager - Controls Testing

About the role

The Manager, Controls Testing is a senior position within ANZ's First Line of Defense (1LOD) Non‑Financial Risk function. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality, independent control testing across complex banking processes, ensuring that testing is risk‑based, well‑governed and aligned with enterprise standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute independent 1LOD control testing for products, processes and customer journeys.
• Lead higher‑risk, judgement‑based testing activities, ensuring methodological soundness and regulatory compliance.
• Provide senior oversight through quality‑assurance reviews of testing outcomes.
• Produce comprehensive documentation, workpapers and governance artefacts meeting audit and regulatory requirements.
• Analyse testing results across portfolios to identify systemic control weaknesses and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Proven assurance experience in first, second or third line of defense.
• Ability to test, challenge and influence stakeholders at pace.
• Strong risk awareness and autonomy in decision‑making.
• Experience in institutional banking is advantageous.
