Intermediate Data Engineer

About the role

The Intermediate Data Engineer will design, build and optimise end‑to‑end data solutions that support business intelligence, regulatory reporting and strategic decision‑making for ANZ. Working within a multi‑disciplinary squad, you will source, extract, move and model data to create reliable reporting assets while ensuring compliance and data quality.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL and Python.
• Optimise data platforms for performance and scalability (Airflow, Spark, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Translate business and analytics requirements into technical solutions.
• Define and enforce data governance, security and regulatory compliance standards.
• Drive automation, CI/CD and DevOps practices to improve reliability and delivery speed.
• Contribute to system and application design in line with ANZ technical standards.
• Develop reusable data assets for insights, reporting and trend analysis.
• Ensure data quality through governance, quality controls and continuous improvement.
• Provide support for complex end‑to‑end data solutions and the full development lifecycle.
• Design, build and resolve issues on the Teradata platform, including GCFR and FSDM.

Required profile

• Experience designing and creating data models.
• Proven ability to engage stakeholders, gather requirements and translate them into solutions.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to set clear goals, prioritise work and meet deadlines.
• Confidence to challenge existing processes and propose improvements.
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
