Info Security Specialist – Cyber Incident Response

About the role

Join ASB’s Cyber Security Incident Response team in Auckland and protect the bank and its customers from real‑time cyber threats. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in a fast‑moving technical environment, working closely with engineering, technology, and specialist security teams.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to potential cyber security incidents and suspicious activity promptly.
• Tri­age and assess reported threats to determine impact and next steps.
• Contain security incidents and escalate complex cases to senior specialists.
• Collaborate with security, engineering, and technology teams during incidents.
• Communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders to gather information and explain required actions.
• Record actions and decisions for post‑incident review and improvement.
• Participate in the CSIRT on‑call roster, including occasional weekend checks and extended hours.
• Continuously build technical knowledge of emerging cyber threats.

Required profile

• Curious about cyber security and motivated to build a career in the field.
• Strong written and verbal communication, staying calm under pressure.
• Enjoys problem‑solving and learning through hands‑on experience.
• 2+ years of broad technology experience, preferably with exposure to security operations.
