Financial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join Vertex Engineers Limited’s Group Business Support team in Te Rapa, Hamilton. The role supports financial operations across four engineering and technology businesses, delivering accurate reporting and helping improve financial visibility.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver accurate financial statements and management reports on time.
• Manage cash‑flow reporting, forecasting and cash‑flow optimisation.
• Prepare GST and other indirect tax returns.
• Monitor debtor balances and support working‑capital management.
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting and long‑term planning processes.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and reporting.
• Collaborate with operations, sales, project and leadership teams.
• Maintain financial controls, compliance and internal processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably within a chartered accountancy environment.
• Proven ability to produce financial statements and management reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical mindset with keen attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or CA qualification highly advantageous.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Experience using WorkBench for reporting.
• Ability to prepare GST and indirect tax returns.
• Budgeting, forecasting and financial compliance expertise.
