About the role
Aurecon is seeking an experienced Associate Planner to join its New Zealand Environment and Planning team in Auckland. The role focuses on infrastructure projects, particularly water‑related consenting under New Zealand legislation, and contributes to delivering sustainable outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Provide planning advice and technical support to obtain resource consents and approvals for clients.
- Engage with clients, contractors and regulatory authorities to define scope, deliverables and timelines.
- Prepare, review and approve resource consent applications and supporting technical analysis.
- Ensure project work complies with relevant legislation and company policies.
- Mentor junior planners and drive continuous improvement within the team.
- Support budgeting, resource planning, risk assessment and business development activities, including contributing to winning work and building client relationships.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in planning (or equivalent).
- Full or associate member of the New Zealand Planning Institute (or equivalent).
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in New Zealand planning projects, specifically in the three‑waters space.
- Strong communication, leadership, stakeholder management and problem‑solving abilities.
- Positive attitude, teamwork orientation and willingness to mentor junior planners.
