Software Consultant – Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Join ASB’s Modern Integration Platform Engineering Squad to shape the future of the bank’s integration and event‑driven technology. You will work on complex, enterprise‑scale solutions, influence platform direction and build resilient services that power critical banking experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable software solutions across ASB’s integration platforms.
• Own platform components and contribute to architecture and engineering strategy.
• Manage and optimise cloud‑based SaaS platforms, including Confluent Cloud.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners and cross‑functional squads to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
• Champion automation, observability, reliability and operational excellence practices.
• Influence the resilience, performance and long‑term sustainability of the technology stack.
• Mentor and support other engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Strong infrastructure and platform background with hands‑on experience in modern cloud environments.
• Proven expertise in infrastructure automation, observability, cloud operations and incident management.
• Deep understanding of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering best practices.
• Ability to work independently while influencing engineering direction without formal people‑management responsibilities.

Required skills

• Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
• Observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or Datadog.
• Incident management experience including on‑call support, RCA and post‑mortems.
• GitHub and version‑control best practices.
• Experience with Confluent Cloud or similar SaaS platforms.
