Senior Mechanical Engineer – Water Infrastructure

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of water infrastructure projects, including pump stations, valves, piping and dam systems, for high‑profile assignments in the Christchurch region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design packages within multidisciplinary water‑works and dam projects.
• Develop, validate and integrate design inputs using industry standards and asset owner specifications.
• Perform hydraulic analyses to optimise system performance and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with civil, structural and electrical teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in design and project execution.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to capture requirements and deliver results on schedule and budget.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for water systems.
• Strong knowledge of pump station, piping, valve and hydraulic design; dam engineering experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Chartered Engineer registration preferred.
