Engineer’s Representative – Open Spaces

About the role

The Engineer’s Representative will act as the Council’s technical authority on open‑space projects, ensuring that stormwater and park infrastructure are delivered to the highest standards. Working within the Professional & Technical Services unit, you will manage contracts, liaise with contractors and consultants, and support the delivery of new civil assets.

Key responsibilities

• Administer NZS 3910 and 3916 contracts, certify payments, variations and extensions of time.
• Provide technical and contractual advice to internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Audit works to confirm they meet Council asset requirements.
• Support project delivery through effective relationship and contract management.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards on site.

Required profile

• Qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive experience in contract management and construction supervision.
• Strong knowledge of NZS 3910 and NZS 3916 standards.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑building abilities.
• Full, current driver’s licence.
