Mechanical Design Engineer – Lead Design & Development

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design & Development team in Auckland. You will lead mechanical product design, mentor junior engineers, and work hands‑on across the full product development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities for development projects.
• Design and develop components with focus on quality, cost and manufacturability.
• Create and review 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs and technical documentation.
• Support and mentor team members, providing CATIA training and guidance.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, production and purchasing teams as well as external partners.
• Ensure designs meet technical, customer and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to project planning, timelines and delivery milestones.
• Drive continuous improvement of design processes and systems (PDM, PLM).

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical or product design engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic or Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong experience with CATIA.
• Proven background in plastic component design, injection moulding, stamping and tooling.
• Experience across the full product development lifecycle.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
