Garment Technician & Product Development Coordinator

About the role

Contare, an established Australian sleepwear and loungewear brand, is expanding its product range across men, women and children. We are seeking an experienced Garment Technician and Product Development Coordinator to support the technical and operational side of our development process. The role is primarily remote but requires on‑site presence in Auckland for fit sessions, sample collection and key development milestones.

Key responsibilities

• Measure and assess development, fit, PPS and production samples.
• Prepare and communicate fit comments to offshore suppliers.
• Review garment construction, recommend improvements and support grading for size consistency.
• Create and maintain specification sheets, measurement charts and tech packs.
• Produce technical garment illustrations using Adobe Illustrator.
• Track sample development timelines and liaise with offshore suppliers.
• Organise, ticket, label and prepare seasonal sales sample collections.
• Assist with fabric, trim and packaging approvals and general product administration during peak periods.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years of experience in garment technology, technical design or product development.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fit assessment and size grading.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and adapt to fluctuating workloads.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with creative, commercial and supplier teams.
