Specialist Engineer – Rotating Equipment

About the role

Mercury is seeking a senior Specialist Engineer for Rotating Equipment to support its renewable generation assets across New Zealand. Based in Rotorua, you will become the mechanical engineering authority for compressors, drills, pumps and other dynamic equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist engineering advice on all rotating equipment assets.
• Develop, maintain and govern standards, procedures, quality and maintenance plans.
• Monitor, trend and evaluate asset performance using vibration analysis, motion amplification and non‑destructive evaluation (NDE).
• Support outage planning and lead or assist investigations of complex equipment issues.
• Drive asset performance improvement initiatives.
• Coach, mentor and build capability within the wider engineering community.

Required profile

• Senior mechanical engineer with extensive experience in rotating equipment.
• Proven expertise with compressors, pumps, drills and other dynamic machinery.
• Ability to develop and enforce engineering standards and procedures.
• Experience in asset performance monitoring, outage planning and investigations.
• Strong coaching and mentoring capabilities.
