Manager / Associate Director – Economics (Strategy Consulting)

About the role

We are seeking a Manager or Associate Director to join our Strategy practice in Auckland, working at the intersection of economics, analytics, technology and real‑world decision‑making. The role involves client‑facing work, hands‑on economic modelling and data analysis, and mentoring junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Apply economic reasoning, structured frameworks and strategic thinking to solve complex client problems.
• Lead and deliver advanced economic modelling, forecasting, scenario analysis and data‑driven insights.
• Utilise modern analytics tools and emerging AI techniques to enhance insight, efficiency and impact.
• Translate complex analysis into clear, compelling narratives for clients.
• Own day‑to‑day client relationships, present findings and advise on next steps.
• Manage multiple workstreams in a dynamic, time‑sensitive environment.
• Lead, coach and develop junior team members, setting high standards.
• Collaborate across teams, disciplines and geographies.

Required profile

• Deep experience in economic modelling and data analysis.
• Post‑graduate qualification in economics, statistics, data science or a related discipline.
• Experience applying economic and analytical frameworks to real‑world strategy or policy questions.
• Proven ability to work with analytical tools and a curiosity for AI‑enabled approaches.
• Experience mentoring junior consultants.
• Comfort presenting complex ideas clearly and persuasively to clients.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high‑quality work under pressure.
• Collaborative mindset and enjoyment of team work.
