Head of Energy and Airports

About the role

The Commerce Commission is seeking a senior leader to head its Energy and Airports regulatory portfolio. Reporting to the General Manager, Infrastructure Regulation, you will shape strategy, oversee high‑impact programmes and ensure effective outcomes for consumers and the market.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sector strategies and work programmes that improve the performance of regulated suppliers.
• Oversee the use of regulatory tools to achieve strategic outcomes and maintain system transparency.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with industry, other regulators, government and stakeholders.
• Lead, develop and inspire a multidisciplinary team, fostering capability and consumer focus.
• Ensure delivery of high‑quality, timely advice across complex, high‑risk work programmes.
• Contribute as a key member of the Infrastructure Regulation leadership team.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in infrastructure regulation or a related field.
• Proven ability to manage complex, high‑impact portfolios and deliver strategic outcomes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Demonstrated capability to lead and develop high‑performing teams.
