About the role
Join Hawkes Bay Museum as a Customer Service Assistant on a casual basis, playing a central part in every visitor’s experience. You will provide front‑of‑house service, support retail and admissions, and assist with tours, events and volunteer coordination.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver welcoming, efficient and knowledgeable service to all visitors, tour groups and event attendees.
- Support museum retail operations, admissions, and cash handling.
- Assist with volunteer coordination and the Friends programme.
- Engage with schools, community groups and the wider public, sharing information about exhibitions and local attractions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, systems and visitor experiences.
Required profile
- Proven experience in a public‑facing customer service role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a calm, solutions‑focused approach.
- Highly organised, able to manage time effectively and work autonomously while staying connected to the team.
- Flexible, collaborative and committed to a positive, inclusive workplace.

What we offer
- Hourly rate of $25.87‑$28.75, dependent on skills and experience.
- Casual, as‑needed hours with no guaranteed schedule.
