About the role

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth across New Zealand for a leading specialist engineering solutions provider. The role combines technical understanding with strategic account development and disciplined B2B sales execution.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead business development activities throughout New Zealand and build relationships across the primary industries sector.
  • Develop strategic account plans to generate repeat business with key customers, including engineers, contractors, consultants and government stakeholders.
  • Identify new revenue and profit opportunities for existing and emerging technical solutions.
  • Oversee proposal development, quotations, estimates and commercial submissions, ensuring technical and commercial quality.
  • Manage opportunities, client activity and sales data using Salesforce, negotiate outcomes and close sales.
  • Coach and develop sales team members, driving performance and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to budgets, monthly reporting, sales planning and pipeline management.
  • Maintain high client service standards before, during and after project delivery.

Required profile

  • Minimum 5 years of technical B2B sales experience with a proven record of meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Background in building, construction, engineering, infrastructure or related technical solutions markets.
  • Strong commercial acumen, proposal and negotiation skills, and ability to engage technical decision‑makers.
  • Leadership capability to coach and motivate a sales team.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑management abilities.
  • Current driver’s licence and eligibility to work in New Zealand (citizenship, permanent residency or valid visa).

Required skills

  • Salesforce (or comparable CRM) experience.
