About the role
We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth across New Zealand for a leading specialist engineering solutions provider. The role combines technical understanding with strategic account development and disciplined B2B sales execution.
Key responsibilities
- Lead business development activities throughout New Zealand and build relationships across the primary industries sector.
- Develop strategic account plans to generate repeat business with key customers, including engineers, contractors, consultants and government stakeholders.
- Identify new revenue and profit opportunities for existing and emerging technical solutions.
- Oversee proposal development, quotations, estimates and commercial submissions, ensuring technical and commercial quality.
- Manage opportunities, client activity and sales data using Salesforce, negotiate outcomes and close sales.
- Coach and develop sales team members, driving performance and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to budgets, monthly reporting, sales planning and pipeline management.
- Maintain high client service standards before, during and after project delivery.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of technical B2B sales experience with a proven record of meeting or exceeding targets.
- Background in building, construction, engineering, infrastructure or related technical solutions markets.
- Strong commercial acumen, proposal and negotiation skills, and ability to engage technical decision‑makers.
- Leadership capability to coach and motivate a sales team.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑management abilities.
- Current driver’s licence and eligibility to work in New Zealand (citizenship, permanent residency or valid visa).
Required skills
- Salesforce (or comparable CRM) experience.
