Business Advisory Manager

About the role

Grant Thornton New Zealand is seeking a Business Advisory Manager to join its inclusive, down‑to‑earth team. In this position you will use your technical expertise and commercial insight to help a diverse portfolio of private, listed and public‑sector clients navigate complex financial and tax challenges while driving growth and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of compliance services, including preparation of financial statements, income tax, GST and FBT returns, and provide taxation advice.
• Produce insightful monthly management reports for clients.
• Offer system and process support to improve client operations.
• Build and nurture long‑term client relationships and manage your own client portfolio.
• Coach, mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Drive and support project work that extends beyond routine compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of manager‑level experience in a Business Advisory (CA) environment.
• Strong technical capability in accounting and tax compliance.
• Clear, confident communicator able to simplify complex information.
• Commercially minded with the ability to think beyond the numbers.
• Proven collaborative leadership style and ability to manage own workflow while overseeing junior staff.
• Experience with accounting technology solutions is an advantage.
