Visiting Lecturer & Placement Assessor (Early Childhood Education)

About the role

New Zealand Tertiary College is seeking experienced Early Childhood Education professionals to join as Visiting Lecturers and Placement Assessors in the Taranaki region. This independent contractor role combines on‑site visits to early childhood centres with remote administration and reporting, supporting student teachers as they transition into professional practice.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and support student teachers for professional practice placements.
• Conduct placement visits and observations within early childhood settings.
• Assess and document student performance using NZTC’s approved assessment processes.
• Provide constructive, evidence‑based feedback to student teachers and associate teachers.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with centre managers and associate teachers.
• Complete required documentation and reporting within agreed timeframes.
• Uphold NZTC’s professional, ethical, and academic standards throughout the engagement.

• Passionate educator with a strong commitment to quality teaching practice.
• Balance of academic understanding and practical Early Childhood Education experience.
• Professional integrity and ability to work autonomously.
