Surfacing Engineer – Central Otago

About the role

Fulton Hogan is looking for a Surfacing Engineer to join its Central Otago team. You will support surfacing operations through quality assurance, technical input and close collaboration with crews and suppliers, helping deliver safe and reliable road infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site investigations, measurements and stringline checks to support surfacing works.
• Deliver quality‑assurance processes, including testing, reporting and continuous improvement of QA systems.
• Coordinate with crews, supervisors and suppliers to ensure smooth execution of paving projects.
• Provide technical input and survey assistance for accurate and efficient project delivery.
• Maintain project documentation, drawings and records to ensure compliance and traceability.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in surfacing, civil construction or a similar hands‑on engineering environment.
• Full Class 1 New Zealand driver’s licence.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work closely with crews, supervisors and stakeholders.
• Capability to manage priorities and work autonomously across multiple sites.
