Senior Renewable Energy & Storage Engineer

About the role

This senior engineering position is part of Aurecon’s Power Generation team, focusing on utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and renewable power projects across New Zealand, Australia and beyond. You will work across the full project lifecycle, collaborating with multidisciplinary specialists and major energy clients to deliver sustainable energy infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical input for utility‑scale BESS and renewable energy projects.
• Support projects from feasibility studies through detailed design to delivery.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, geotechnical and electrical specialists.
• Assist procurement activities, tender reviews and technical evaluations.
• Conduct technical risk assessments and lender due‑diligence activities.
• Review contractor and OEM documentation for compliance and design quality.
• Develop scopes, proposals and client‑focused technical solutions.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering qualification, ideally electrical.
• 5+ years’ experience in the power or renewable energy sector.
• Experience with BESS projects and grid‑connection infrastructure.
• Broad understanding of electrical infrastructure and power systems.
• Strong problem‑solving and technical communication capability.
• Collaborative and innovative approach to project delivery.
