Senior Consultant - Tax

About the role

Deloitte New Zealand is seeking a Senior Consultant to join its Tax team in Tauranga. You will work with a diverse portfolio of SME and corporate clients, providing expert advice on a wide range of tax matters while developing your technical and managerial capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and contribute to a portfolio of clients covering various corporate tax issues.
• Advise on business tax matters, including compliance, planning, employment taxes and GST.
• Identify, manage and mitigate tax risk, meet statutory deadlines and resolve tax disputes.
• Apply knowledge of current and pending tax legislation and its interaction with global tax functions.
• Conduct fact‑based decision making using appropriate research techniques.
• Improve work efficiency and client service through technology tools.
• Prepare and review income tax returns and tax provisions.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of experience in a professional services or corporate tax environment.
• Professional qualification in law or accounting.
• Strong understanding of end‑to‑end tax processes and the New Zealand tax environment.
• Experience in specialist tax areas (e.g., employment taxes, GST) is beneficial.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, team‑player attitude.
• Results‑focused, client‑oriented with a drive to develop people.
