Section Manager – Production (Secondary)

About the role

The Section Manager – Secondary leads the production team at Silver Fern Farms' Pareora site, driving a culture that aligns with company values and promotes agile teamwork. You will be responsible for ensuring safety, quality, and compliance while meeting customer requirements every day.

Key responsibilities

• Support departments in organising teams to maximise production outcomes and resource utilisation.
• Champion continuous‑improvement initiatives and the Streamline program.
• Coach and mentor production leaders to develop their leadership capability.
• Build and maintain an uncompromising safety culture across all shifts.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial performance to meet throughput and cost targets.

Required profile

• Minimum three years in a senior production leadership role, preferably in red‑meat processing or a similar FMCG environment.
• Proven experience training, coaching and mentoring large teams (approximately 250 staff).
• Strong knowledge of employee‑relations, regulatory and hygiene compliance.
• Ability to manage workforce planning and drive financial results.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Competent use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
