About the role
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is seeking an experienced Product Development Engineer to join its Auckland team. You will help create high‑quality, life‑changing medical devices, working in a collaborative environment that values balance, respect, and sustainable pace.
Key responsibilities
- Lead or contribute to end‑to‑end product development from concept through commercialisation.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with R&D, manufacturing, quality and regulatory teams.
- Design solutions that balance performance, manufacturability and patient safety.
- Oversee prototype development, testing and validation activities.
- Support design reviews, risk assessments and technical documentation.
- Mentor and share knowledge with less experienced engineers.
Required profile
- 5+ years of experience in a relevant engineering environment.
- Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven track record delivering engineering outcomes in complex, real‑world settings.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence cross‑functional decisions.
- Pragmatic problem‑solving and risk‑management approach.
- Interest in a long‑term role with work‑life balance.
Required skills
- New product development and product lifecycle management.
- Designing and building prototypes with a hands‑on approach.
- Manufacturing processes such as injection moulding and DFM/DFA principles.
- Product testing, validation and technical documentation.
- Project leadership or ownership of key workstreams.
- Experience in regulated environments (medical devices, ISO standards).
