About the role
The Emergency Department at Launceston General Hospital is seeking an endorsed Nurse Practitioner to deliver advanced, autonomous clinical care to a diverse range of patients, from minor injuries to critical trauma. This role combines direct patient management with leadership responsibilities in education, mentorship and service development.
Key responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients within the approved Nurse Practitioner scope of practice.
- Make autonomous clinical decisions and coordinate care pathways to improve patient flow.
- Lead quality‑improvement initiatives, develop protocols and contribute to service innovation.
- Provide education and mentorship to nursing and multidisciplinary staff.
- Collaborate closely with Ambulance Tasmania, inpatient units and community services.
Required profile
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Extensive contemporary Emergency Department experience with advanced assessment and diagnostic reasoning.
- Proven leadership, communication and collaboration abilities.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and patient‑centred care.
Required skills
- Advanced clinical assessment and decision‑making in emergency settings.
- Knowledge of AHPRA standards and Nurse Practitioner scope of practice.
- Quality improvement and service development expertise.
What we offer
- Permanent full‑time position (up to 76 hours per fortnight).
- Annual salary of $148,470 plus 12 % superannuation.
