Medical Secretary (KMc)

About the role

The Medical Secretary (KMc) provides essential secretarial and administrative support to clinicians and multidisciplinary teams within NHS Scotland. This role ensures smooth day‑to‑day operations of medical services while upholding the organisation's commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver accurate medical secretarial and administrative assistance to clinicians and MDT members.
• Manage patient correspondence, appointment scheduling, and clinical documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with NHS data protection standards.
• Support the team in preparing reports, referrals and other clinical paperwork.
• Assist with the implementation of reasonable adjustments for disabled or neurodivergent staff and patients.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in a medical or healthcare administrative setting.
• Understanding of NHS policies on equality, diversity and legal work eligibility.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with clinical teams.
• Commitment to authentic, self‑authored application materials.

Required skills

• Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets).
