About the role

The Public Defence Service (PDS) is seeking four Legal Secretaries to join its legal support team at the Wellington Hub. You will provide professional, efficient secretarial support to the PDS legal team, helping to deliver high‑quality criminal defence services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide proactive legal secretarial services to lawyers and clients.
• Ensure the legal team operates in a professional, effective, and efficient manner.
• Identify and act on opportunities to improve service delivery.

Required profile

• Experience in a range of administration functions, including typing and data entry.
• Self‑starter with proven initiative and ability to manage a busy workload.
• Interest in criminal defence law and a forward‑thinking, action‑oriented approach.
• Strong written and confident verbal communication skills for interacting with lawyers and clients.
