About the role

The School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Canterbury seeks a Lecturer (Teaching & Administration) to deliver high‑quality teaching and support services for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The role spans on‑campus delivery in Christchurch, offshore teaching in China, and online modes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching on‑site, offshore and via distance/online platforms.
• Support learners across multiple delivery modes, ensuring engagement and success.
• Lead and coordinate the Transnational Education (TNE) programme, including activities that connect TNE students with the university.
• Provide pastoral care and programme support to international students entering through TNE pathways.
• Collaborate with partner institutions, notably Qufu Normal University in China, for joint education programmes.

Required profile

• Expertise in data science, mathematics, statistics or a closely related discipline.
• MSc or PhD in a relevant field.
• Proven experience delivering effective tertiary‑level teaching.
• Excellent oral and written communication, time‑management and digital‑technology skills.
• Commitment to multicultural student support, equity, diversity, inclusion and respect for Aotearoa New Zealand’s bicultural heritage.
