Extended Care Paramedic (16-32 hrs/week)

About the role

The Extended Care Paramedic (ECP) works within a multidisciplinary primary‑care team to deliver same‑day urgent care and ongoing management for low‑acuity patients. The role involves thorough clinical assessments, ordering and interpreting pathology, and creating short‑ to medium‑term care plans with appropriate referrals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide urgent, same‑day care for scheduled and unscheduled low‑acuity patients across all ages.
• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and review medical histories.
• Order pathology tests, interpret results, and integrate findings into care plans.
• Develop and implement short‑ to medium‑term treatment plans, including medical referrals.
• Collaborate with general practitioners, nurses, and other health professionals.
• Maintain and improve clinical systems and documentation.
• Manage relationships with multiple health institutions and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Paramedicine.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science (Paramedicine) with ECP specialization.
• Significant clinical experience in health or community service settings.
• Understanding of clinical system development and maintenance.
• Experience in multi‑stakeholder management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Physically fit, resilient, confident, friendly and approachable.
• NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit.
