Electrical Technician – Maintenance (Whareroa Site)

About the role

Join the Maintenance team at Fonterra's Whareroa site as an Electrical Technician. You will be responsible for keeping the plant’s electrical and basic instrumentation systems running safely and efficiently, supporting a high‑speed dairy processing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical and basic instrumentation maintenance across manufacturing and utilities equipment.
• Diagnose and repair breakdowns, ensuring rapid return to operation.
• Carry out preventative maintenance to maximise plant availability.
• Develop and implement long‑term practical solutions for equipment reliability.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives using automated technologies.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently while being an effective team player.
• Strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding capabilities.
• Familiarity with high‑speed machinery in an industrial setting.
• Mature, punctual approach to daily responsibilities.

Required skills

• NZ registered Electrician (Certificate in Electrical Engineering Level 4 or higher) with a current practising licence.
• Proven industrial electrical experience, preferably in FMCG or food manufacturing.
• Basic mechanical and instrumentation knowledge.
• Experience with data systems such as HMI, PLCs and SCADA.
