Automotive Technician

About the role
Eastland Toyota is seeking a full‑time Automotive Technician to join its high‑performing Service team in Gisborne. The role is open to qualified Master Technicians, experienced mechanics without formal tickets, and apprentices in their 2nd or 3rd year looking to progress.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex vehicle maintenance and repairs in a busy workshop environment.
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic issues using Toyota‑specific diagnostic tools.
- Maintain workshop safety standards and ensure all work complies with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver high‑quality service and support continuous improvement.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff or apprentices as needed.
Required profile
- Automotive qualification, solid workshop experience, or currently completing a 2nd/3rd‑year apprenticeship.
- Clean, full NZ driver’s licence.
- Positive attitude, strong teamwork ethic, and pride in workmanship.
- Good communication skills and legal right to work in New Zealand.
Required skills
- WOF certification (or willingness to obtain it with company support).
- Automotive qualification or equivalent hands‑on experience.
