About the role
We are seeking a skilled Data Center L2 Support Engineer to manage, maintain, and troubleshoot critical data‑center infrastructure. The role involves supporting servers, network devices, storage systems, and cabling while ensuring maximum uptime and operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Provide Level 2 support for data‑center operations and infrastructure.
- Perform rack‑and‑stack activities for servers, storage, and network equipment.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and replace hardware components.
- Support Windows and Linux server environments, including health checks, firmware upgrades, and preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues involving switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Manage structured cabling, fiber patching, and cable documentation.
- Monitor environmental conditions such as power, cooling, and rack utilization.
- Handle incident, problem, and escalation management.
- Coordinate with vendors, OEMs, and remote teams during troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate asset inventory and update CMDB documentation.
- Support disaster recovery, backup verification, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Follow change‑management processes and security policies.
- Provide remote‑hands and smart‑hands support to customers and internal teams.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in data‑center or infrastructure support, preferably in enterprise or colocation environments.
- Ability to work 24 × 7 rotational shifts and on‑call support.
- Preferred certifications: CompTIA Server+, CCNA, MCSA/Microsoft, VMware VCP, ITIL Foundation, CDCP.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Customer‑focused attitude and ability to work under pressure during critical incidents.
Required skills
- Hands‑on experience with Dell, HPE, IBM, Lenovo servers.
- Experience configuring Cisco, Juniper, Arista switches.
- Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage systems.
- Fiber and copper cabling expertise.
- Windows Server administration.
- Linux administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Basic networking concepts: TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, routing & switching.
- Familiarity with monitoring and ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
- Virtualization technologies: VMware, Hyper‑V.
- Understanding of ITIL processes.
- Tools: VMware vSphere, iDRAC/iLO, SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, Active Directory, remote‑management utilities, DCIM tools.
