Commercial Solar Design Engineer

About the role

We are expanding our solar and whole‑of‑home energy offerings and are looking for an experienced Commercial Solar Design Engineer to join our Design Services team within the Home Solutions business. Based in Auckland, you will deliver high‑quality commercial solar designs for a growing pipeline of projects across New Zealand and Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed solar and commercial energy system designs that meet technical, regulatory and commercial standards.
• Collaborate with Product, Installation, Service, Sales and wider Haier Group teams to ensure end‑to‑end quality outcomes for commercial customers.
• Engage with project specifications, drawings and costings, taking ownership from design through to winning the project.
• Support continual improvement of design processes and build internal knowledge.
• Design commercial and industrial PV systems, integrate green building solutions and consider HVAC and hot‑water requirements.
• Perform energy modelling, load calculations and evaluate ducting/piping systems.
• Provide customer‑centric solutions aligned with the Home Solutions strategy.

Required profile

• 3+ years experience designing and/or installing solar systems (HVAC/hot‑water experience highly advantageous).
• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong understanding of AS/NZS standards (e.g., 4777, 5033, 5139, 4509).
• Knowledge of building codes and construction practices.
• Customer‑led approach with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to challenge the status‑quo.
• Commitment to health and safety and passion for sustainability.
