Clinical Nurse Educator

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Educator will strengthen the capability of Waipuna Hospice’s nursing and clinical workforce, ensuring high‑quality palliative and end‑of‑life care. Working closely with senior nursing teams, you will identify learning needs, develop educational programmes and support staff progression toward specialist practice.

Key responsibilities

• Equip internal and external providers, community carers and whānau with the knowledge to deliver equitable end‑of‑life care.
• Identify learning gaps and design, deliver and evaluate palliative care education across the organisation.
• Lead mandatory training sessions and support the orientation of new nursing and clinical staff.
• Facilitate the Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP) for ongoing staff development.
• Collaborate with wider health system partners to extend palliative care capability throughout the community.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification with current practising registration.
• Demonstrated experience in palliative or hospice care.
• Ability to assess educational needs and develop tailored learning solutions.
• Strong collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
