Actor – Buck role in Teenage Dick

About the role

We are seeking an adult actor (18+) to play Buck, the quick‑witted best friend in the contemporary high‑school adaptation of Shakespeare’s Richard III, titled “Teenage Dick”. The production will run at The Court Theatre from September 12 to October 10 2026, with rehearsals beginning 10 August 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Attend rehearsals Monday‑Friday, 9 am‑5 pm, with occasional half‑day Saturdays.
• Perform the role of Buck in all scheduled shows and post‑show Q&A.
• Collaborate with the director, cast, and crew to develop the character and comedic timing.
• Participate in an intimacy and access process to ensure safe and inclusive staging.

Required profile

• Adults 18 years or older, able to portray a teenage character.
• Open to actors of any ethnicity and experience level, including those with limited professional background.
• Willingness to work with a disabled artist and to support an inclusive, accessible production environment.

Required skills

• Strong comedic timing and ability to deliver dialogue with clarity.
• Comfort with physical disability representation (ideally wheelchair user for the lead role, not necessarily for Buck).
• Ability to follow direction from an intimacy and access facilitator.
