Water Serviceperson – Wellington

About the role

Join a dedicated water team that ensures a reliable supply of quality water across the Wellington region. You will work on a mix of planned and reactive projects, maintaining vital water infrastructure for communities and the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install and repair water connections on mains of all sizes.
• Flush and charge water mains to maintain system performance.
• Use hand tools, small plant and machinery safely and efficiently.
• Operate utility locating equipment, interpret network plans and mobile technologies.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to achieve project outcomes.
• Adhere to health, safety and trade practice standards on every job.

Required profile

• Experience in the water, civil or construction industry.
• Ability to work with hand tools, small plant and utility locating equipment.
• Full, clean Class 1 driver’s licence (Class 2, W/T/R/F endorsements are a plus).
• Commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
• Reliability, hard‑working attitude and flexibility for overtime, shift work and on‑call roster.
• NZ Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Level 3 or 4) or willingness to obtain the qualification.
• First Aid, Confined Spaces and Working at Height certifications are beneficial.
