Technical Specialist - Sandvik Mining

About the role

Sandvik Mining is hiring a Technical Specialist in Waihi, New Zealand, on a permanent full-time basis. You will act as the main link between Sandvik and its customers, delivering technical support and service so that equipment runs safely, reliably and efficiently. You will work with the customer's Maintenance Management team on scheduled inspections, preventative maintenance and hands-on repairs, covering hydraulic, electrical and automation systems on underground and surface drill rigs, loaders, trucks and related machinery. The roster is 4 days on, 3 days off. Applications from people currently in Australia who want to relocate to Waihi are welcome.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong customer relationships through consistent, high-quality service.
• Partner with site stakeholders to improve maintenance practices and equipment utilisation.
• Fault find and diagnose technical issues and resolve them efficiently.
• Share field insights and technical feedback to help improve products.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
• Follow safe work practices and comply with site and company safety requirements.
• Own the quality of your work and outcomes.

Required profile

• Trade qualification in Heavy Duty Mechanical or Auto Electrical.
• Proven experience maintaining and fault finding on heavy equipment.
• Experience servicing and repairing mining equipment such as drill rigs, trucks and loaders.
• Right to live and work in New Zealand; a pre-employment medical is required.
• Desirable: familiarity with maintenance systems and service reporting, root cause analysis, warranty processes and OEM service expectations.
