Technical Lead (Architecture Focus) - Full Stack

About the role

Theta, a New Zealand‑owned technology consultancy, is seeking a senior Technical Lead with an architecture focus to join a customer‑facing delivery team in Auckland. The role is hands‑on, combining software architecture, full‑stack leadership, and direct collaboration with engineers, solution architects, and product stakeholders to modernise a mission‑critical .NET/Angular platform.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve application architecture across a mixed .NET estate, from legacy .NET Framework 4 to modern .NET.
• Set a modernisation roadmap that balances clean, sustainable patterns with incremental uplift of legacy components.
• Lead full‑stack technical direction across backend, frontend and integration boundaries, shaping SPA/API contracts.
• Facilitate workshops with engineering squads, product owners and customer stakeholders, providing guidance during sprint reviews and release gates.
• Act as the technical voice in customer‑facing conversations, clearly explaining design decisions to non‑technical audiences.
• Improve adherence to software development best practices, including API consistency, versioning and integration governance.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with strong hands‑on experience in both modern .NET and legacy .NET Framework.
• Proven full‑stack leadership ability, comfortable working side‑by‑side with engineers.
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Track record of raising engineering standards and reducing technical debt without slowing delivery.
