Technical Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Technical Engineer to join our Technical team in New Plymouth. The role focuses on cable design, technical data management, product compliance and supporting both internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new cable designs using specialised design software and calculate technical specifications.
• Create and maintain technical data sheets, design documentation and outsourcing specifications.
• Provide technical assistance to sales teams during tender submissions and to customers on product and engineering queries.
• Conduct product audits, support quality control systems and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Maintain engineering databases, support continuous‑improvement projects and assist with process and product enhancements.
• Promote a safe working environment and adhere to health, safety and environmental policies.

Required profile

• Tertiary, diploma or trade qualification in an engineering or electrical discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in the electrical industry, preferably in technical support or product engineering.
• Strong understanding of industry standards, safety regulations and technical documentation.
• Analytical mindset, problem‑solving ability and customer‑focused attitude.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and collaborate with stakeholders.
