Team Leader – Air Traffic Control (Queenstown Tower)

About the role

Airways is seeking a Team Leader to manage a close‑knit team of air traffic controllers at the Queenstown Tower. The role combines hands‑on leadership with a focus on safety, training excellence and seamless service delivery to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Tower Operations Manager in delivering safe, compliant, high‑quality Air Traffic Services.
• Oversee operational performance, ensuring safety standards and customer expectations are met.
• Manage training requirements, providing analysis, advice and timely updates.
• Collaborate on the development and improvement of procedures, systems and teamwork.
• Lead transformational change initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships and contribute to strategic business planning.
• Uphold professional standards across all duties.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Air Traffic Services.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a team.
• Strong customer focus and ability to identify needs.
• Flexibility to meet customer requirements and think laterally.
• Excellent planning and organisational capabilities.

Required skills

• Current Air Traffic Control (ATC) licence.
• Queenstown Tower validation (or ability to obtain prior to start).
