Tax Associate – Private Business (Christchurch)

About the role

Join PwC New Zealand’s Private Business team as a Tax Associate in Christchurch. You will work with a diverse portfolio of private clients, providing accounting, tax compliance and advisory services while developing your technical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns and indirect tax returns (GST, FBT) to a high professional standard.
• Support clients with accounting and tax compliance, and develop advisory capabilities.
• Assist businesses with budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting, management reporting, financial modelling and board reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and help clients make informed decisions.
• Build strong client relationships and collaborate with colleagues across PwC to deliver integrated solutions.

Required profile

• A degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business or a related discipline.
• 1‑3 years of experience in public practice, accounting or tax.
• Solid understanding of New Zealand tax and accounting principles.
• Progress towards, or intention to undertake, CA ANZ or CPA qualifications.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
