Corporate Finance Associate Director / Manager

About the role

PwC’s Corporate Finance team in Christchurch is seeking an Associate Director / Manager to lead high‑impact M&A, valuation and transaction advisory work across New Zealand. The role offers significant responsibility and visibility, supporting business owners, corporates, investors and public‑sector organisations in acquisitions, divestments, capital raising and strategic reviews.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex financial analysis, valuation and financial modelling for M&A, strategy and transaction services engagements.
• Oversee transaction execution, including preparation of transaction materials, coordination of due diligence, management of stakeholder workstreams and support for negotiations to completion.
• Manage engagements to ensure delivery on time, within budget and to the highest commercial standards.
• Articulate key risks, issues and opportunities to senior stakeholders to inform investment and strategic decisions.
• Develop and present high‑impact deliverables such as information memoranda, valuation reports, strategic options papers and client presentations.
• Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to analysts and junior team members.
• Contribute to business development by identifying client needs, preparing proposals and building trusted relationships across the South Island market.

Required profile

• Proven experience in corporate finance, M&A advisory or related transaction services.
• Strong track record of leading teams and managing client relationships on complex transactions.
• Excellent commercial judgement and the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated business development capability and a collaborative mindset.
