Systems Engineer

About the role
The Systems Engineer will help build and sustain the technology foundations that enable Tauranga City Council to deliver services to a fast‑growing community. You will work within a collaborative Digital Services team, ensuring that cloud and on‑premise infrastructure remains reliable, secure and high‑performing.
Key responsibilities
- Support and enhance modern cloud and on‑premise infrastructure that underpins critical council services.
- Maintain servers, storage, backup solutions, databases and enterprise platforms.
- Monitor system performance, resolve technical issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with technical teams, vendors and business stakeholders to deliver infrastructure projects.
- Ensure systems are resilient, secure and available for daily operations.
Required profile
- Proven experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities with a focus on proactive problem solving.
- Ability to work effectively across technical teams, external vendors and business stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset and commitment to delivering secure, reliable technology services.
- Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and contributing to community‑focused outcomes.
