Surfacing Supervisor

About the role

Downer is looking for an experienced Surfacing Supervisor to lead its regional surfacing crew in Whangārei. You will plan, organise and oversee surfacing and sealing operations, ensuring safety, quality and efficiency while supporting strong customer relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop surfacing crews, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Oversee day‑to‑day surfacing activities, including chip stockpiling, QA processes and audits.
• Collaborate with Operations and Delivery Managers to programme and execute work plans.
• Track project financials, comparing actual costs to estimates.
• Ensure accurate completion of QA documentation, ITPs and as‑built records.
• Maintain excellent customer relationships and identify new business opportunities.
• Promote Zero Harm safety practices and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate plant, personnel and resources for optimal utilisation.

Required profile

• Strong background in surfacing/sealing operations within roading or civil construction.
• Proven experience supervising teams on construction sites.
• Knowledge of surfacing specifications, QA procedures and audit processes.
• Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills.
• Computer literate with ability to track and report performance.
• Valid Class 1 driver licence.
