Support Worker – Horowhenua, Kapiti & Mana

About the role

IDEA Services is looking for compassionate Support Workers to help adults with intellectual disabilities live independently across Horowhenua, Kapiti and Mana. You will work directly with clients in their homes, providing personalised assistance and encouraging skill development.

Key responsibilities

• Support clients with daily living tasks such as meal preparation, shopping, cleaning and personal hygiene.
• Assist with transportation, employment activities, financial management and medication administration.
• Provide flexible coverage across daytime, evening, overnight and weekend shifts.
• Promote independence by teaching and reinforcing life‑skills tailored to each individual’s abilities.

Required profile

• Strong desire to pursue a career in disability support with a positive attitude.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and sleep‑over assignments.
• Physical fitness to provide necessary personal support.
• Full NZ driver’s licence.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Computer and tablet usage for daily documentation and communication.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of $24.68‑$30.13 (NZD) depending on qualifications.
