Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

As a Site Reliability Engineer you will help build and support the digital platforms that keep Air New Zealand moving. You will work closely with engineers, product teams and platform specialists to ensure services are secure, resilient and available for customers and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Support the reliability, availability and performance of critical business platforms and services.
• Investigate and resolve incidents quickly to minimise customer impact.
• Troubleshoot issues across applications, infrastructure, integrations and cloud environments.
• Contribute to the design and improvement of secure, scalable and highly‑available cloud infrastructure.
• Build and enhance automation, monitoring and observability capabilities.
• Partner with development teams to embed reliability and operational readiness into new solutions.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and incident‑management activities.

Required profile

• Experience in site reliability, cloud, platform or systems engineering.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a passion for operational excellence.
• Effective communication and the ability to collaborate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Scripting or automation experience using Python, Shell or PowerShell.
• Understanding of monitoring, observability and incident‑management practices.
• Knowledge of networking, operating systems and modern infrastructure technologies.
