Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

As a Site Reliability Engineer within ANZ’s Technology team, you will ensure the health and stability of critical cloud services and backup workloads across New Zealand. You will work on production stability, platform releases, quality assurance and overall ecosystem health, driving automation and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Support production stability of the C1 global Sky service (up to 50 % capacity) within a global operating model.
• Maintain stability of Insto Tech NZ cloud applications such as Sky Robust Backup, Gabor and BS11, complying with NZ technology policies and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Institutional Technology, Managed Service Providers and Technology Operations to share knowledge and best practices across cloud workloads.
• Identify, design and implement automation solutions to reduce manual effort and prevent recurring incidents.
• Drive ecosystem health activities including vulnerability remediation, environment refreshes, patching and version maintenance.
• Engage proactively with business and technology stakeholders to provide guidance and support.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in software engineering and computer‑science principles.
• Proficient in programming or scripting in at least two languages (e.g., HCL, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ruby, Go, JavaScript).
• Experience building, supporting or maintaining complex systems in a cloud environment.
• Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
• Ability to analyse, explain and resolve technical problems independently.
