Service Technician – Wind Turbine Maintenance (Palmerston North)

About the role

Vestas is seeking a Service Technician to support the operation and maintenance of wind turbines across New Zealand. You will work on‑site at the Turitea and Tararua wind farms, applying your electrical, mechanical and hydraulic expertise to keep turbines running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Perform periodic service inspections and replace or troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components according to Vestas specifications.
• Operate condition‑monitoring and remote‑control systems to ensure optimal turbine performance.
• Maintain a well‑stocked service vehicle and warehouse, ordering tools, materials and spare parts as needed.
• Assemble and service components using internal or external cranes, following current work instructions.
• Adhere to the highest health, safety and environmental standards while meeting service targets.

Required profile

• Trade qualification in electrical, mechanical or hydraulic disciplines with a strong desire to develop further.
• Good computer literacy for handling monitoring tools and documentation.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to climb turbines and work at heights in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel to other sites when required.
