Field Service Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to deliver high‑quality service for GEA technologies across dairy, water treatment, winery and brewery sites in New Zealand. The role is based in Christchurch and involves nationwide travel to support customers.

Key responsibilities

• Service and maintain a range of GEA equipment, primarily 25 kg packing machines, as well as atomisers, homogenisers and separators.
• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, disassembly and re‑assembly on specialised mechanical equipment, both planned and emergency breakdowns.
• Produce detailed service reports and maintain accurate service records.
• Engage in preventative maintenance visits and provide on‑call support for after‑hours breakdowns.

Required profile

• Trade qualification such as fitter/turner (preferred) with at least 3 years of mechanical experience, preferably in food or dairy production.
• Strong work ethic, high attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel nationwide.

Required skills

• Mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial equipment.
• Interpretation of service manuals and technical drawings.
• Use of IT tools and Microsoft Office applications for reporting.
