Senior Tax Consultant – Wellington

About the role

Deloitte is seeking a Senior Tax Consultant to join its Wellington team of around 45 tax specialists. You will work with large, complex organisations, advising on a broad range of corporate tax matters while developing your technical and commercial expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and contribute to a portfolio of clients covering diverse corporate tax issues.
• Provide advice on tax compliance, planning, and risk mitigation, including employment taxes, GST and international tax.
• Prepare and review income tax returns and tax provisions.
• Identify, manage and resolve tax disputes, ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
• Apply current and pending tax legislation, using research techniques to support fact‑based decisions.
• Influence clients and senior stakeholders, building confident relationships.
• Improve work efficiency and client service through common technology tools.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in corporate tax advisory and client portfolio management.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand tax legislation and its interaction with global tax functions.
• Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to senior clients.
• Passion for helping both local and international businesses succeed.
