Senior Solutions Architect (12‑Month Contract)

About the role

Westpac New Zealand is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect on a 12‑month contract to drive the design and delivery of complex, enterprise‑wide solutions. The role sits at the intersection of business, product and delivery teams, ensuring that architecture decisions are practical, scalable and aligned with large‑scale transformation programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Engage stakeholders to capture business goals, constraints and risks, shaping viable solution options.
• Develop end‑to‑end solution designs across all architecture layers and make key architectural decisions.
• Provide technical leadership to delivery teams, guiding design choices and trade‑offs throughout the lifecycle.
• Ensure solutions comply with enterprise principles, standards and governance processes while remaining delivery‑focused.
• Present designs to executives, business partners and developers, translating complex concepts into clear language.
• Identify technical risks early and work with teams to define mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in solution or enterprise architecture.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills at all organisational levels.
• Background in banking or other highly regulated financial services environments is desirable.
• Deep appreciation of risk and security considerations in regulated settings.
• Solid understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks.
